So, I am sure you keep reading that I am your favorite French History Nerd, and you're probably thinking "Who is she, and how do I get out of this page?"

Well, guess what, I am here with an unsolicited list of 10 reasons of why I, Chloey, should be your favorite French History Nerd.

1.) I do all of this in my free time, no one is forcing me to learn anything

2.) I am very short

3.) My French is TERRIBLE

4.) I have to talk at someone about my favorite subject

5.) I sound like a nerd (important to be a favorite nerd)

6.) My vocabulary is finite, at best

7.) I never finished college

8.) I am better with researching history than I am at telling jokes

9.) I can count to ten

10.) I have a deep respect and fascination for History, and it's place in the modern day.

"A cover is not the book, so open it up and take a look" Mary Poppins

Now, you may be wondering "why there is a Mary Poppins quote here, what does she have to do with Versailles?" Nothing really, I just think the quote is relevant to the castle itself (and I really like Mary Poppins). When we see Versailles we see Marie Antoinette, Louis XIV, maybe even Voltaire. We hardly ever see the people who built the castle, the inner workings that started revolutions, the words exchanged that unknowingly swayed entire civilizations, or even the fashion and habits that effect us even today.

Maybe it's the idea that this castle that was a symbol of all things authoritative, fashionable, and refined, but instead you got a confusing rabble of impossible rules held up by wig wearing, lice infested men and women who peed in corridors (rather than install indoor plumbling).

Either way, nothing is what you imagine.
